What a year it’s been!

If you’re reading this, I‘m so grateful we’re continuing to LIVE.

2022, like every year since March 2020 has packed its own kinda one-two punch, but I’m proud to still be here, pivots and all. I’m blessed to have done more than a little bit; ate and drank a bit more; danced and laughed with my loved ones; cried sad and happy tears; and laughed in humor and in spite of the circumstances.

Simply put, I’ve been LIVING. And that’s what I created this space to be about, while also building a conscious community.

So if you’re still down to ride, let’s shine a light on what I’ve been up to the last two quarters of this year and what’s to come. I’ve been working, exploring, and of course, I’ve been eating and drinking in my neck of the woods, because no matter how busy and wild life may get, Brit Be Eating and I do that WELL.

Brit Been Working

Brit Been Working

Quiet as I’ve kept it on this blog, I’ve been working my backside off professionally. For those who may not know, I'm a Communications Director in my 9-5, M-F life, and halfway through 2022 I communicated myself into a new role and more money. IKTR!

I am proud of the work I did in my previous role, with my standout team, but I knew that particular environment was not the one for me for very long. But let me tell you now, when you pray for change, you best be ready to move when you get that call.

Let the record reflect, that I was READY!

An acquaintance reached out with news about a comms lead role at a global media agency and despite my hesitancy to move back into agency life, I took the interviews. Here I am, working on my preferred parts of internal and external communications, no longer client-facing (THANK GOODNESS BECAUSE I HATE BILLABLE HOURS), and I’m continuing to build my leadership experience.

So with all the movement of this year, I’m not quite finished with corporate life just yet. But this pretty little salary jump, rise in leadership visibility, and opportunity to further build my network is JUST WHAT THE AMBITIOUS DOCTOR ORDERED.

Brit Been Traveling

But what's the point of working if there's no play?

It’s not a true Brit Be Living year if I don’t take a few trips. I love to see the world, one journey at a time, and this year I made the most of traveling around the U.S. I traveled for work and for leisure but I’m glad I was able to create new experiences for myself and with others.

I was able to visit New Orleans. Detroit. Vegas. Los Angeles. Nashville. St. Louis.

The highlight of them all?? Seeing USHER BABY at his Vegas residency. One of the best concerts and weekends of my life. I already want to see him again. *insert clapping emoji*

Make sure you check out the footage from my travels here on the blog and over on my Instagram.

And last, but never least... I've been eating GOOD!

I love to eat. This isn’t a confession, it’s an affirmation.

A good meal sustains us physically and emotionally and I’ve found a special connection while dining and drinking by myself or with my loved ones. A timely and intentional meal can build and uplift our communities and I’m planning to bring y’all into my food-centric fold in the new year.

Now, you, your cousin, and your friends too can all join me for Brit Be Eating with Friends: A Dinner Series.

This will be a not to be missed opportunity to dine with friends, new and old, and indulge in the offerings of local chefs and beverage partners. When I say I’m excited to bring people to my communal table? I AM EXCITED.

If you want to know when the tickets go live to get first dibs, be sure to get on the mailing list by subscribing below. Until then, Happy New Year! & if you’re curious about which city from this year’s travels lived up to the foodie hype, check out the photos featured here! There is truly no city like NEW ORLEANS . Winner winner. cajun dinner!
