Birthday is that you, boo?

Welcome to December.

Talk to this month (and me) NICELY.

Yes, we’ve finally made it to the last month of 2020. Please clap yourself on the back for this accomplishment because this year has been no easy feat!

And on that note I’ve decided to make this month one of grateful manifestation. BECAUSE I DESERVE, and so do you. 2020 has served up a plethora of change and upheaval, that has at times led to sadness, frustration, irritation, and incredulity. But thankfully, perhaps even surprisingly, it has also led to moments of elevation and sublime prioritization. As I head into December, which also doubles as my birthday month, I’m taking stock of this year’s wins, losses, and draws and realizing that despite the stereotypical wins (TWO NEW JOBS = MORE MONEY and PROFESSIONAL PROGRESS but more on that later!), I’m most grateful for the wins that aren’t as flashy.

In a year where my typical schedule and routines were literally halted, I came to learn that what I appreciate most about my life is that I truly enjoy being me. No rah rah social media meme needed. From my growing mindfulness practice it’s became clearer to me that focusing on and nurturing what makes me feel whole, mentally, spiritually and emotionally is the best Christmas and Birthday gift I can give myself.

So… I’m doubling down on that for the next 31 days as I head into a new year of life. It’s kind of perfect that my actual birthday is December 31, aka NYE, because I certainly plan to bid this year adieu taking note of what served me best, and restructuring what served me less. If 2020 was the year to shake and flip the proverbial table, 2021 can be the chance to build it anew.

For each day leading up to my birthday I plan to take a moment everyday to write down what I’m grateful for from this year and what I’m looking forward to in 2021 (or 2022 and on because arbitrary deadlines are so DEAD.) I absolutely believe that part of faithing it while we make it, is being grateful for what we have in the here and now, while also envisioning what we want for our future. I’ll be sure to share some of these reflections as well and hope you’ll share yours with me.

I didn’t have ANYTHING that happened this year on my 2020 Bingo Card exactly how it played out, but everything good, big and little, had been on my heart for some time. God showed out in more ways than one, but I also feel like we were shown how to put ourselves on the path to internal renewal. Sometimes you have to throw the run of show to the wayside and work with the live event at hand.

December is the perfect month to recalibrate in whatever way we see fit. I hope you’ll join me on this 31 day journey of thanks and manifestation. We owe ourselves a moment with ourselves. 2020 has been SOMETHING ELSE, but don’t cheat yourself by rushing it out with no fanfare or reflection.

Cheers to the closing of this year!

& yes I’m accepting bday love and assorted gifts from anyone so inclined :-).
